Tour americano del 1977, la first leg dal 3 al 30 aprile, la second dal 18 maggio al 27 giugno, la terza prevista dal 17 luglio fino ad agosto ma interrotta dopo la quarta data a causa della morte improvvisa di KARAC, figlio di Plant. Ad ogni modo tra la seconda e la terza parte il gruppo si prende circa tre settimane di vacanza, il tour è un successo stratosferico ovunque, ma Page è chitarristicamente fuori controllo, l’atmosfera sulla e nella band è pesante e carica di violenza e la pressione ormai insostenibile. Invece di ripresentarsi riposato, in forma e con lo spirito migliorato il gruppo sale sul palco del SEATTLE Kingdome con l’animo fiacco e sfilacciato producendosi in una esibizione non certo memorabile. Naturalmente della data esiste da sempre la registrazione soundboard audio e il video pro shot! Non un gran concerto dunque, ma vista l’ esistenza del filmato è un must per i fan dei LZ.
Qualche settimana fa è comparso su youtube il clip di STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN in sincrono con un audio preso da più fonti, il risultato non è niente male, e se non altro è un modo per rendersi conto di come doveva essere vedere i LZ nel 1977. Grazie a Randy Butternubs, dunque.

American tour of 1977, the first leg from April 3 to 30, the second leg from 18 May to 27 June, the third leg scheduled from July 17 until August but stopped after the fourth date because of the sudden death of the son of Plant, KARAC. Anyway, between the second and the third legs the group took about three weeks of vacation, the tour was a stratospheric success everywhere, but Page is out of control guitarwise, and the atmosphere in the band is heavy and full of violence and the pressure is untenable. Instead of recur rested, fit and improved in the spirit, the group went onstaat SEATTLE Kingdome with the soul weak and frayed, producing a performance certainly not memorable. Of course there’s full soundboard audio and pro shot video! Not a great show then, but given the ‘existence of the footage is a must for the fans of the LZ.
A few weeks ago clip of STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN appeared on the youtube, in sync with audio taken from multiple sources, the result is not bad at all, and if nothing else it is a way to realize what it was like to see the LZ in 1977. Many thanks to Randy Butternubs, then.

Concerto piuttosto sottotono per la band , in particolare Robert che non mi pare tanto messo bene con la voce . Ci sono dei pezzi interessanti , STH è uno di questi . Assolo di Page e interazione con Bonzo da brividi . Tutto sommato con una bella ripulita resta un documento di grande interesse , a parer mio andrebbe pubblicato su dvd (nel caso non avessero di meglio da offrire) stessa cosa per Earls Court e Knebworth . Sul mercato esistono ormai tanti dvd e bluray di concerti magari non perfetti ma eccezionali dal punto di vista storico/collezionistico . Darklord , ti aspetto .
